The Tank Man, a symbol, a man who stood alone against what was a massacre of freedom and liberty during the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989. Over 3.000 people were killed by the Chinese army and after the massacre the protesters fled and this man was all that was left, he was the last man to say NO to what had happened. He was in that moment a voice for all the people of China and the world, he said what hundreds of thousands had tyred to say before him, but were killed. He is a hero of modern times, an unknown legend. One had the power of millions, he stood alone against a tank with no weapons, he did not want to fight, he wanted a stop to that madness, he wanted peace.
And he WON the battle. This image is one of the most impressive acts a human ever did in the name of peace and love. He gave his life in the name of liberty and freedom, he could have been killed, but he was saved in the last minute by unknown people.
Ever since he is a symbol of power and not any power, but the power of what is right and what is wrong. He stood against evil and he won.
After blocking the tanks, the man climbed up onto the top of the lead tank and had a conversation with the driver. Reports of what he said to the driver vary, including "Why are you here? My city is in chaos because of you!"; "Go back, turn around, and stop killing my people!"; and "Go away."
