A self-discovery journey!

Yesterday I realised that this blog has been a self-discovery journey. The more I think about it the more I feel like this blog was a search for self or a discovery of self. As you can see there is an obvious progress and change in my posts. I started rather scared about the world we live in, but now I don't feel that way anymore. I've gone past that.

This search has not stooped, but now I can see the beginning of a result. Last year I said that I had no real goal with this blog, but you see, it has and had one. Existence makes purpose possible. I did not know why I made this blog, but its existence gave it purpose.

It was never about the world I lived in, but about me. That might sound a bit selfish, but I find it to be the truth. Selfish is to want to change the world thinking that you are better. This reminds me of what someone said once: We are not here to change the world. We are here so that the world can change us!

I think this change is more visible for me by having this blog. It's just like having a journal and reading what you wrote years back. You will feel the difference. Right now I do not know what the future of this blog looks like since I feel that it did what it had to do. This does not mean an end, but a new beginning.

I don't really feel like writing anymore about things related to our selfish world and its flaws. That I can't change. Writing about it, before, was a way for me to express my dissatisfaction with the way things were. Now I think its more important for me to accept the world I live in and learn from its flaws. The only thing I can change is me and hopefully I can make my world better. There is no way I can change the world. Since the world does not want change, some people want to suffer, its their choice, I have to respect that.

As for this blog, it was and is a wonderful gift. I find it amazing how your own words can lift you up. I suggest to everyone to start writing, it is a great way to knowing yourself.

Here are some beautiful quotations about self:

To the question of your life you are the answer, and to the problems of your life you are the solution. Joe Cordare

People often say that this or that person has not yet found himself. But the self is not something one finds, it is something one creates. Thomas Szasz

When your heart speaks, take good notes. Judith Campbell

Man cannot remake himself without suffering, for he is both the marble and the sculptor. Dr. Alexis Carrel

A man travels the world over in search of what he needs and returns home to find it. George Moore

He who knows others is learned; He who knows himself is wise. Lao-tzu

Just when I think I have learned the way to live, life changes. Hugh Prather

Quality begins on the inside... and then works its way out. Bob Moawad

There is an eternal landscape, a geography of the soul; we search for its outlines all our lives. Josephine Hart

I am alive!

Yeah, I am not dead! Sorry for not posting more often, life took me by surprise and left me with no time to write here. Ok, that is a lie. There was time, but not the mood to make me feel like writing. New place. It took a while to make me feel comfortable enough to write again.

Anyhow, many new things in my life. I am learning Japanese for one. That is really something totally different from what I am used to. But it is lots of fun, I advice everybody to try new, strange languages as a hobby. It's just fun.

So what else? Well, I'm doing yoga exercises. I never believed that something so simple can be so healthy. It's just stretching, but after two months now of yoga, I can definitely say that my body looks different and so much better. I feel better. I look in the mirror at my body and I am pleased with what I see. Right now each time I look in the mirror, I get in a really good mood by watching my body take new shapes. So yes, I really recommend it. You do not need to do it every day, but at least once a week. It would be good to start doing it for 3 to 4 days a week at the beginning.

Today I finished a book about happiness. Almost 200 pages talking about happiness. It was such a good read. Made me happy. Funny isn't it? The answer is so simple. All you need to be happy is you. Nothing else. The rest are things that you can enjoy and be happy about, but in no way should they control your life and happiness. Another important thing is for you to realize that you do not own anything, not even your body. Since you will die one day. Nothing is permanent and you should not seek security, but be happy about every change in your life.

Do not try to have more money, more fame, more, more of everything. These things all die in the end and have no value. These things should not control your happiness. Never condition your happiness with things like: "If I don't have that Ferrari I will never be happy!" First of all be happy with what you have, and if you will be given more or you will earn more be happy again and share it with others.

Never let your happiness be controlled by unfulfilled desires and goals or by fulfilled desires and goals. Happiness must not be conditioned by anything, it should be independent and unconditional. Failure should not make you sad. Why be sad, you just learn a new thing and next time you will be better at it. Never give up, never. A person that does not fail, is a person that never takes risks and never tries to push his limits.

What do people search in life? Happiness. But the way to it takes so many shapes, as many as are people on this planet. Many search for happiness outside of them in things like money, cars, women, power, etc. The thing is that happiness is not outside of you, it is inside. Just like love. Search for happiness in your heart and soul. In your inner peace. When you are pleased with who you are, then you will be happy. But how can you be pleased with yourself when you always want more, more, more and you don't stop for a second and try to see what you have and who you are. Be happy for what you are before wanting to have more. Since if you are happy it does not matter if you will have more or less. Happiness should never be conditioned by things like "more" or "less".

If you are alive, if you have enough food and water to survive, if you have a person to talk to, if you have a pet to love and a place where to sleep then all the other things you will have should be just other gifts that life gave you and you should be the happiest man alive. Happiness asks for simple things to exist. So simple that almost everyone on this Earth have them. But why so many are sad? There is a mentality problem here. A social and cultural one. If we see money when thinking about happiness, then we will fail in every aspect of our life.

Do not condition your life and happiness with material things, they will all let you down. You will never stay young, rich, powerful, etc. Real values and the things that matter are invisible. Love, happiness, affection, respect, altruism, friendship, etc. These are things that matter, are beyond our world and are universal.

Look deep into your heart and discover yourself. In you are all the answers to your questions. Stop looking outside and look inside. Life will guide you in this jurney. All you need is the will to want to see who you really are. The rest is happiness.

Blog Action Day: The Environment!

Today is Blog Action Day. More than fourteen thousand bloggers will unite today around one single subject: the environment.

If you want to join us, you can do it right now by writing something about the environment on your own blog!

What Kind of Blogger Are You?

The Environment

As you can see from my logo, Earth, our home, is the most important thing to me. There should be nothing more important than that for us. Everything we know, are, represent is on that planet. Every man, woman and child! All the pain and happiness that we experience is on that planet.

We have to respect our planet, it is our home, and no matter what problems occur between us in this home, in the end we are all tied to one, single entity, our planet. We are responsible for our actions and we will feel the pain of our own wrongdoings. We can't just leave Earth if we make a mistake, that mistake can cost our existence.

The environment is a gift and a world where we play. We have to respect this gift and play there with love. If we abuse this gift we will, in the end, abuse ourselves. This is why we need to protect it! If we protect it and treat it with love we will feel that love coming back to us from the environment.

We need to act now. The first thing we need to do is stop treating the environment like it is ours, our possession. It is NOT. It is a gift which can be taken back from us. We are just a tiny part of the environment. We might be the most advance lifeforms in this environment, but like it or not, we need it and we are still very small compared to it. We are still too young to try to change it. Right now we need to stop changing things and really start to understand how it works in the first place.

Earth will still be here one billion years from now, I wonder if we will? The only way we will live as long as our planet is if we will love it and treat it like we would want people to treat us. We will never be able to evolve to a point where we could destroy planets if our intentions are malevolent. We will self destroy ourselves if we don't choose the path of love. We are all born with a sense of good and bad. We need to use this gift and choose the good. Our choices are what makes us what we are.

So please think again when someone wants to cut a tree or go out hunting for fun. Would you like to be hunted? I think not.

Loose Change 2nd Edition: 9/11 Retold!

Here is another video that I feel it must be posted. Why? Because of the bird. Look at that bird and the camera movements (the camera was set on a tripod and very sensitive to vibrations). First we see some camera movements, small shaking, due to internal bombs in the WTC, then a larger one happens just before the second plane struck WTC and right in that moment before the plane struck, we can see the camera move really bad and the bird flew away. A second after the bird flew away the plane hit and a new shaking occurs, even larger this time. The bird felt the bombs just milliseconds before they came to the camera and flew away.

The camera moved before the plane hit. Many times. The bird felt it and flew away. Why? Only internal bombs could do this. If you watch further, between seconds 25 and 28 there is a lot of shaking, then in the right you can see 2 people falling down due to the shaking of the building. Those two persons were surely at the window trying to get fresh air, but once the building started to move they fell. As you can see the building from which they fell was not the one to be hit by a plane, something made the building move, if it wasn't the plane than only some kind of bombs, internal bombs could do it.

Week In Review 10!

Its been a sad week. Luciano Pavarotti died. But in the end we don't have to be sad for him, he is not really dead. His soul still exists. I am sure one day his soul will come back on Earth in a new body and have a great new musical career. You should listen to some of his concerts, especially when singing Nessun Dorma and Ave Maria! He was amazing, but his life will be forever preserved in time between the years 1935 and 2007! Addio, Maestro!
In other news, right now, the world is at a boiling point. Tensions are growing globally. World leaders such as Bush warn about a potential nuclear war with Iran. There are plans suggesting USA will attack and start another illegal war in the Middle East. Syria and Israel are in a war stance towards each other, any more tensions and a full scale war could occur. To make matters worst Iran promised to offer Damascus any assistance it may need in case of war. Remember Israel will be almost certainly backed by USA.
China has threatened USA that if it banns Chinese products they will drop their 1.4 trillion dollar reserve. This means for USA a total economic collapse. Some analysts suggest this process started on a global scale. The world is losing faith in the US dollar.

As for Russia, the sleeping bear has awakened. Russia has restarted its soviet programs. Putin is becoming more aggressive towards the west each day. These reactions from Russia are due to the US plans to install anti-missiles installations in eastern Europe.

A new 9/11 type of attack might happen this month in USA. Some suggest the date of September 14, 2007. In a very strange way on that day the entire U.S. Air Force will be ordered to "stand down". If a terrorist attack takes place on September 14, then we know that the US government made it possible with a military stand-down order.

Another interesting news is related to the North American Union and the Amero, its currency. USA, Canada and Mexico are planned to be united in one sole entity just like the European Union. This is planned so that when the US economy will collapse the Amero will replace the US dollar.
The first Amero coins are already being minted. The ones who make these new coins told that they might get arrested if they disclose this information. The US government wants to keep these plans secret until the economical depression happens. Then they will come with the solution, telling people they need to accept the North American Union and the Amero. Here is more information about this subject. Here are some pictures of the new currency:
In the end I would like you to go and see Planet Earth, a nature documentary. It will show you why we should love our planet and respect it.

This Autumn Is Going To Be Nuclear!

This is not good, read below!

[I have a friend who is an LSO on a carrier attack group that is planning and staging a strike group deployment into the Gulf of Hormuz. (LSO: Landing Signal Officer- she directs carrier aircraft while landing) She told me we are going to attack Iran. She said that all the Air Operation Planning and Asset Tasking are finished. That means that all the targets have been chosen, prioritized, and tasked to specific aircraft, bases, carriers, missile cruisers and so forth.

I asked her about the attack, how limited and so forth.

"I don’t think it’s limited at all. We are shipping in and assigning every damn Tomahawk we have in inventory. I think this is going to be massive and sudden, like thousands of targets. I believe that no American will know when it happens until after it happens. And whatever the consequences, whatever the consequences, they will have to be lived with. I am sure if my father knew I was telling someone in a news organization that we were about to launch a supposedly secret attack that it would be treason. But something inside me tells me to tell it anyway."

...

"That’s what’s missing. A real sense of purpose. What’s missing is the answer to what the hell are we doing out here threatening this country with all this power? Last night in the galley, an ensign asked what right do we have to tell a sovereign nation that they can’t build a nuke."

"Today, orders just come down from the mountaintop and there’s no questioning. In fact, there is no discussing it. I have seen more than one senior commander disappear and then three weeks later we find out that he has been replaced. That’s really weird. It’s also really weird because everyone who has disappeared has questioned whether or not we should be staging a massive attack on Iran."

"Yes. We're going to hit Iran, big time. Whatever political discussion that are going in is window dressing and perhaps even a red herring. I see what's going on below deck here in the hangars and weapons bays. And I have a sick feeling about how it's all going to turn out."

The Pentagon has drawn up plans for massive air strikes against 1,200 targets in Iran, designed to annihilate the Iranians’ military capability in three days, according to a national security expert.

Alexis Debat, director of terrorism and national security at the Nixon Center, said last week that US military planners were not preparing for "pinprick strikes" against Iran’s nuclear facilities. "They’re about taking out the entire Iranian military," he said.]

Could Women Be Better?

Click on the image to enlarge! The information there might not be up to date, but it proves an important point.

Are men really the only ones who can lead this world? What would happen if women were to lead this world? Lets imagine that over 70% of world leaders would be women. Would something change? I think it would.

This proves a point someone made once: "As long as this world is ruled by men, there will be no end to wars!" Women have greater affection and they care much more than men. All women, more or less, become mothers one day and as a mother they tend to be protective and love more. This is why a world led by women could look totally different from one led by men.

There is no fact to suggest that women are not fit to lead. The only thing that makes this hard is our society which is very rigid. For the past millennia women were kept in the dark, kept uneducated, they were dominated by men. Only in the last 100 years did women start to have access to information and education. Still our society, more or less, looks at women like 100 years ago.

It's hard to change something that lasted thousands of years. It seems 100 years is not enough. I believe a world led by women would look much more peacefully and there would be more love between nations and people. No wonder, once, a visitor, from a far away planet, said that advanced civilizations tend to have women in places of power. Men are savage and they tend to "fight" which means war. Women are more inclined to think and not fight.

This is an article wrote by a man. No matter what gender you have, war, should always be something to be avoided, if we need women to lead this world for that to stop, I am all for it.

Peace!

US To Attack Iran Within 6 Months!

Fox News asked former CIA field officer Bob Baer on Tuesday whether the US is "gearing up for a military strike on Iran." Baer has written a column for Time indicating that Washington officials expect an attack within the next six months.

"I've taken an informal poll inside the government," Baer told Fox. "The feeling is we will hit the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps." His Time column also suggested that "as long as we have bombers and missiles in the air, we will hit Iran's nuclear facilities."

Baer explained that what his sources anticipate is "not exactly a war." He said the administration is convinced "that the Iranians are interfering in Iraq and the rest of the Gulf" but that "if there is an attack on Iran it would be very quick, it would be a warning."

"We won't see American troops cross the border. If this is going to happen, it's going to happen very quickly and it's going to surprise a lot of people," said Baer. "I hope I'm wrong frankly, but we're going to see."

How Propaganda Works!

[How Propaganda Works

by Bob Wallace

"Once you base your whole life striving on a desperate lie,
and try to implement that lie,
you instrument your own undoing."

Ernest Becker, The Denial of Death.

It's not hard to understand how propaganda works. You don't need a college degree, or to even to read any of those thick textbooks everybody hates. Everything relevant can be explained in one not-particularly-long article. And, I guarantee you, you must understand how propaganda targets you, to immunize yourself against the attempts.

Propaganda works by appealing to our most base, animalistic instincts. It does not appeal to our better nature, although one of the purposes of it is to convince us it does. It pretends to appeal to our reason, when in fact it appeals to our most primitive emotions. There is good reason for this: perception travels through the emotional brain first, to the rational brain last.

Specifically, propaganda works by appealing to three things: emotionalism, tribalism and narcissism.

I just mentioned perception travels first to the emotional brain, then the rational brain. This happens to everyone, including people who con themselves they are the most rational and intelligent of intellectuals.

As for tribes, we share with every nearly every animal in the world the instinct to form tribes, arranged in a hierarchy, with a leader. We are group animals. The fact we look to a leader to take care of us is one of the most firmly established principles in psychology (if you don't remember anything else, remember that).

When anyone transgresses the taboos of a tribe, they can, and often are, ostracised or even expelled. An example? Say some people oppose a war. What happens? They are often called cowards and told to leave the country. Who hasn't heard the insult, "You're a coward! If you don't like it here, get out!" People who say such things think they're being patriotic; in reality they're acting like animals. Emotional, irrational, herd animals, prone to the fear and flight activated by propaganda. Individuals think; groups do not, and cannot.

Narcissism is our inborn tendency to see everything as grandiose or devalued, good or bad, with nothing in-between. It's why nearly every tribe in the world -- and nations are just tribes writ large -- called itself "the People," "the Humans," "the Chosen," "the Motherland," "the Fatherland," or "the greatest nation on earth," relegating everyone outside the tribe to a devalued non-people, non-human status (aka "collateral damage"). No wonder it's so easy to kill the outsiders -- they're just not quite human.

When you combine those three concepts, you have the basis for all propaganda. If a leader of a tribe tells the people their goodness is under attack by insane, evil people who want to destroy them, they will react just like animals and attack. The Nazi propagandist Herman Goering noticed all you had to do to get people to march off to war is for the leaders to tell them they were under attack, denounce protesters as traitors exposing the tribe to danger, and the people would slander, ostracize and expel the protesters, and then tramp straight off to be slaughtered. He said this technique worked in every country of the world.

The Bush administration used exactly this technique to start two wars. Essentially they told the public that our goodness was under attack by insane and evil people who wanted to destroy us. See how it works? Tribalism, emotionalism, and narcissism.

Supporter of the war responded by attacking protesters as traitors -- trying to expel them from the tribe -- and marching off to war. It's altogether too simple, and too easy.

One man everyone should know is Edward L. Bernays, the American disciple and nephew of Sigmund Freud. He was for all practical purposes the founder of modern propaganda techniques.

Bernays despised most people and regarded them as his inferiors, especially because of intellectual or social claims. (See how it works? I just appealed to your emotions, and convinced you Bernays was attacking you. You fell for it, right?)

Bernays not only pretty much founded modern propaganda techniques, but was also the father of modern PR. Although, you could say they are same thing, and that there's really no difference between them.

In his 1928 book, Propaganda, Bernays wrote, "The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country…"

Remember that quote. Burn it into your memory. Bernays thought people should be ruled by an extremely small elite, who should manipulate them through propaganda. That means you. People who believe in the wonders of government, and that it is their friend, should think twice about it.

In another book, In Crystallizing Public Opinion, Bernays wrote how governments and advertisers can "regiment the mind like the military regiments the body." This can be imposed, he said, because of "the natural inherent flexibility of individual human nature," and suggested the "average citizen is the world's most efficient censor. His own mind is the greatest barrier between him and the facts. His own 'logic-proof compartments,' his own absolutism are the obstacles which prevent him from seeing in terms of experience and thought rather than in terms of group reaction."

Bernays also thought "physical loneliness is a real terror to the gregarious animal, and that association with the herd causes a feeling of security. In man this fear of loneliness creates a desire for identification with the herd in matters of opinion."

Bernays claimed that "the group mind does not think in the strict sense of the word… In making up its mind, its first impulse is usually to follow the example of a trusted leader. This is one of the most firmly established principles in mass psychology." What Bernays called the "regimentation of the mind" is accomplished by taking advantage of the human tendency to self-deception [logic-proof compartments], gregariousness [the herd instinct], individualism [exalting their vanity] and the seductive power of a strong leader.

Bernays also expressed the opinion people "have to take sides...[they] must step out of the audience onto the stage and wrestle as the hero for the victory of good over evil." This also means appealing to our narcissism, our inborn tendency to see everything as either good or bad, with little or nothing in-between.

He also noted the need for people to feel as if they belong to something larger than themselves. Again, this also means appealing to our narcissism, such as people claiming they belong to "the greatest nation on earth."

When people consider themselves as part of the Humans (by whatever name they call themselves), they exalt themselves. Still again, those outside the tribe are non-people, "collateral damage."

"Mental habits create stereotypes just as physical habits create certain definite reflex actionism," Bernays wrote. "...these stereotypes or clichés are not necessarily truthful pictures of what they are supposed to portray." Perception is everything, the truth matters little or not at all.

Now, let's boil all this down and see what we have:

Mass Man, the herd, cannot think, and is instead ruled by its feelings. The herd will look to a leader to save it. The best way to accomplish this is for the herd to feel it is under attack. The herd will draw together, expel those who see the truth and protest, and then march off to war.

The full quote from Hermann Goering? "Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country."

Tell the herd they are the Humans, or the People, or best of all, have God on their side. Paint their enemies as insane and evil. Again, this is appealing to people's narcissism, the tendency to see everything as either good (us) or evil (them). Evoke paranoia and hysteria in them by convincing them the insane evil ones want to conquer and destroy them. What will happen? You can get them to march off to war by the millions, just as Goering noticed. The truth doesn't matter, only the manipulation of perception.

To make it as simple as possible, everything that is needed for a successful propaganda campaign can be summed up in those three aforementioned words: emotionalism, tribalism and narcissism.

We con ourselves we are so advanced. In reality, the human race is stuck in One Million Years BC, except there's no Raquel Welch in a two-piece fur bikini.

I forgot -- there is one another component to successful propaganda: keep repeating the message over and over.]

Here is a comment to the article that I feel it must be posted:

[Bob forgot one key element.

People inherently don't like to be held accountable for their own actions. Projection is a vital tool. Don't like the way your life has turned out? Blame the [Jews, Muslims, Atheists, religious right, capitalists, communists, Democrats, Republicans, etc].

Blaming others is much more appealing than looking in the mirror and acknowledging that you are the one common component in all of your life's failures.]

North American Union to Replace USA?

President Bush is pursuing a globalist agenda to create a North American Union, effectively erasing borders with both Mexico and Canada. This was the hidden agenda behind the Bush administration's true open borders policy.

Secretly, the Bush administration is pursuing a policy to expand NAFTA politically, setting the stage for a North American Union designed to encompass the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. What the Bush administration truly wants is the free, unimpeded movement of people across open borders with Mexico and Canada.

President Bush intends to abrogate U.S. sovereignty to the North American Union, a new economic and political entity which the President is quietly forming, much as the European Union has formed.

The blueprint President Bush is following was laid out in a 2005 report entitled "Building a North American Community" published by the left-of-center Council on Foreign Relations (CFR). The CFR report connects the dots between the Bush administration's actual policy on illegal immigration and the drive to create the North American Union.

At their meeting in Waco, Texas, at the end of March 2005, U.S. President George W. Bush, Mexican President Vicente Fox, and Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin committed their governments to a path of cooperation and joint action.

What is the plan? Simple, erase the borders. The plan is contained in a "Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America" little noticed when President Bush and President Fox created it in March 2005.

The North American Union plan, which Vincente Fox has every reason to presume President Bush is still following, calls for the only border to be around the North American Union, not between any of these countries.

Why doesn’t President Bush just tell the truth? His secret agenda is to dissolve the United States of America into the North American Union. The administration has no intent to secure the border, or to enforce rigorously existing immigration laws. Securing our border with Mexico is evidently one of the jobs President Bush just won't do. Will President Bush protect America's sovereignty?

The North American currency union is a hypothetical situation in which the major countries of North America – specifically Canada and the United States, possibly Mexico – would share a common currency. This idea is based on the common European Union currency, the euro. There are also related proposals for a single currency for all of the Americas. The hypothetical currency for both of these ideas is sometimes referred to as the amero.

Danger: Overpopulation!

Overpopulation will kill this planet and us.

We have only two solutions:

1. Reduce the population.
2. Adopt and discover new technologies.

It all comes down to who controls what. In order to have peace on this Earth we need balance when it comes to social classes. The gap between poor and rich is too big. Overpopulation only increases this difference, which in time creates wars between whole nations.

We can't have 300 million Americans living on the back of billions. We are already too many on this planet compared to the technology we have. We can't sustain, in a healthy way, this life we have.

You can't have 1 billion Chinese living like Americans. If Chinese people start living like Americans, I am afraid Americans will start living like Chinese people do now. Power and prosperity will shift, but now grow. This is why unless we discover new technologies to make energy and food out of thin air, we can't have any more people on this Earth.

When shifts happen, wars start. USA will not give up easily. That is why there are rumors about an US-China war. China will take its place. Power and prosperity will shift. That is if China wins. Still, it does not matter who has the power on this planet. As long as that one who has it lives on the back of other nations, like US does now with China, we will never have peace.

What is the solution? Reduce the population so that 1 billion people can all live a decent life. Or discover new technologies which will not depend on fossil fuels. Technologies such as Zero Point Energy. Free energy for the whole world. But this means a loss of power from the elites to the citizens and the people. The elite will not allow such a shift of power.

Coal, Oil and Gas are money and power. Free energy is a danger to those two things. But free energy means peace and a decent life for many people. The elite ruling this planet does not want to lose that power.

Evolution demands those new technologies if we are to progress. But if the elite will not allow it, then this change will be a very ugly one. Many will die. Many wars could start.

Today we are 6.6 billion. In 2025 we can be 9 billion or 1 billion.

9 billion could mean two things:

a) Over 6 billion people live in very poor conditions.
b) New technologies made a difference in this world. Coal, Oil and Gas are history.

1 billion means only one thing:

a) Genocide, World War 3, nuclear holocaust.

You decide the outcome!

Are You Over-Obsessed With Religion?

Top Ten indications that you’re over-obsessed with religion:

10 – You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours.

9 – You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that humans were created from dirt.

8 – You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God.

7 – Your face turns purple when you hear of the "atrocities" attributed to Allah, but you don't even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the male first-born babies of Egypt in "Exodus" and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in "Joshua" – including women, children, and trees.

6 – You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods consorting with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky.

5 – You are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of the Earth (4.55 billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that Earth is about a couple of generations old.

4 – You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs – though excluding those in all rival sects – will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering, and yet you consider your religion the most "tolerant" and "loving."

3 – While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor “speaking in tongues" may be all the evidence you need to "prove" your choice of religions to be the correct one.

2 – You define .01% as a "high success rate" when it comes to answered prayers, and consider that to be evidence that prayer works. And you think that the remaining 99.99% failure was simply the will of God.

1 – You actually know a lot less than many atheists and agnostics do about the Bible, Christianity, and church history – but you still call yourself a Christian.

Beware Of USA!

We live in some dangerous times. USA is closer and closer of becoming a police state!
Here is just an example:

"I was unfortunate enough to come through Miami International Airport this week, on the way back from holidaying with my son in Peru. I'm a 43 years old British, with no criminal record, no union or political ties.

Airport Immigration at Miami told me there was a computer glitch which meant they couldn't read my new bio-passport, and I would need to go to another department. My young son and I were taken to a small room and left there for 1 hour and 45 minutes. My passport, wallet and cell were taken off me, no explanation given. All this time, my luggage with very expensive contents were going round and round in the collection hall.

We were then told to move to another office and left there for another hour. I demanded my passport and belongings back, this was refused. Finally a cop appeared, and took us away to his desk. My son was made to sit behind me so I couldn't see him (why?) and I was then asked a series of deeply personal, political and outrageous questions.

Whats your sexual preference? (hello, I have a son!) Which political party did you vote for and much worse. 4.5 hours after landing we were released, and I was given my wallet, cell and passport back. No apology given.

I have a new view of the USA and American culture. I've travelled to all areas of the world including Israel and the Middle East in my life, so I know what security is, and why precautions are taken, but this was just too personal and discomforting. Even in Egypt my passport and wallet were carefully kept within my sight, and security personnel were at least polite.

Next time, I'll transfer through Madrid. Big lesson learned, and I sincerely hope this experience is of use to others."

This is all part of a bigger plan:

"Highly sensitive information about the religious beliefs, political opinions and even the sex life of Britons travelling to the United States is to be made available to US authorities when the European Commission agrees to a new system of checking passengers.

Under the new agreement, which goes live at the end of this month (July), the US will be able to hold the records of European passengers for 15 years compared with the current three year limit. The EU Parliament said it was concerned the data would lead to 'a significant risk of massive profiling and data mining, which is incompatible with basic European principles and is a practice still under discussion in the US Congress.

Peter Hustinx, the European Data Protection Supervisor warned that under the new system the data will be shared with numerous US agencies. 'The data protection supervisor and the European Parliament are angry that they were not consulted,' Bunyan said. 'But they are also angry with a number of elements of the plan such as giving the US the absolute right to pass the data on to third parties.

Simon Davies, director of Privacy International, another group that campaigns against state surveillance, said the new agreement gave huge powers to the US authorities. 'We have no guarantee about how this data will be used,' Davies said.

The new agreement will see US authorities gain access to detailed passenger information, from credit card details to home addresses and even what sort of food may have been ordered before a flight. In addition, US authorities will be free to add other information they have obtained about a passenger, leading to concerns about how the information will be shared."

Prepare for the worst!

Why Am I Here?

Why am I here? Why is everyone here? Here, where? On Earth of course. Wait, still, if I was on planet "x" why would I be there. It does not matter where you are or who you are, the question is the same. Why are you here or there?

What's the purpose?

Why do I write this? I don't know. What I do know is that we make our own purpose. We are the reason there is a purpose. It is strange, but as I write this I am making a purpose. Which is? Well, we will both find out when I finish this.

Once I said that when you are in love you don't ask yourself why you are here because then you know. That is the best answer I can give you right now. Is it love the answer? It is to many questions.

I gave a purpose to this blog, I made it. Before I made it, it had no purpose. It did not exist. Does this mean that existence is the purpose? Existence in itself is a purpose. Existence means creation. Creation then leads to purpose and life. Lets try again.

Why am I here? To be. To exist. Damn this was simple. I am here to be. I am here so I can write this, so I can love, so I can do all the things I do.

Interesting conclusion. Such a hard question when you first look at it. But the answer is as hard to grasp as the question. The answer is so simple yet so full.

Now I understand the beauty of creation. When you create you bring life and purpose to something that has never existed before. And there is no end to creation.

I had no purpose when I started writing this, but now it seems that I just answered a question. The conclusion? Enjoy life. Life is a purpose. Everything you do is great, be that good or bad. The possibility of doing it is so great that there is nothing better. The alternative is nothing, only Void.

Thank you! I say this to the one who decided that I should exist. But then I wonder who was the first creation? If in the beginning there was nothing? How did something started to exist? How can Void create?

Week In Review 9!

It has been a long time since the last review. That is because I had some important stuff to do, but now I am free again and will post more often. There are some things I must tell you. First of all I found a book, well, two books which are extraordinary. The first one is Journey of Souls and the second one is Destiny of Souls, both written by Michael Newton. These books will open your eyes and change the way you look at life! If you are interested to find out what is your purpose in this life this can help you very much. These books can give you many answers to many questions. Have fun reading them, but you need to have an open mind!

As for the Internet, here is a website that you have to visit! It is perfect in every way. The music is so peaceful. A video that you must see is Zeitgeist the Movie! You should try Google Video if the link does not work. This movie is about Jesus, 9/11, the Federal Reserve fraud, New World Order, etc. It has a very holistic view of the world and this makes you see all these things in a very, very different light.

Here is an online book Handbook for the New Paradigm, you can also buy it at Amazon. It has an important message for all of us. You should read it! Here is a fragment from it:

"Why is the word Life capitalized? Because that is the purpose of your experience on this planet! You are alive, that is aware of experiencing this Life energy moving through you and played out on the screen of your observing ego mind. Ah, the ego, the devil of your existence, or so you have been led to believe."

Until now there is a lot of spiritual stuff I gave you here. Thrust me that it helps and we need it! We forget too many times that material is not all there is! We are all so much more!

In cinemas you can now see the movie Ratatouille, it is one of the best animation films I ever saw. Great movie, you should take your friends and watch it!

In the end I would like you to go on this blog and read that story. Amazing! It does not matter if it's true, you should read it!

A Day With God!

This is an alleged story of someone meeting with "God" if you will. At least the One who made our Universe. Really interesting, worth reading!

[Talking to God...

I met God the other day.

I know what you’re thinking. How the hell did you know it was God?

Well, I’ll explain as we go along, but basically he convinced me by having all, and I do mean ALL, the answers. Every question I flung at him he batted back with a plausible and satisfactory answer. In the end, it was easier to accept that he was God than otherwise.

Which is odd, because I’m still an atheist and we even agree on that!

It all started on the 8.20 back from Paddington. Got myself a nice window seat, no screaming brats or drunken hooligans within earshot. Not even a mobile phone in sight. Sat down, reading the paper and in he walks.

What did he look like?

Well not what you might have expected that’s for sure. He was about 30, wearing a pair of jeans and a "hobgoblin" T-shirt. Definitely casual. Looked like he could have been a social worker or perhaps a programmer like myself.

God: ‘Anyone sitting here?he said.

Help yourself’ I replied.

Sits down, relaxes, I ignore and back to the correspondence on genetic foods entering the food chain…

Train pulls out and a few minutes later he speaks.

God: ‘Can I ask you a question?’

Fighting to restrain my left eyebrow I replied ‘Yes’ in a tone which was intended to convey that I might not mind one question, and possibly a supplementary, but I really wasn’t in the mood for a conversation.

God: ‘Why don’t you believe in god?

The Bastard!

I love this kind of conversation and can rabbit on for hours about the nonsense of theist beliefs. But I have to be in the mood! It's like when a Jehovah’s witness knocks on your door 20 minutes before you’re due to have a wisdom tooth pulled. Much as you'd really love to stay… You can’t even begin the fun. And I knew, if I gave my standard reply we’d still be arguing when we got to Cardiff. I just wasn’t in the mood. I needed to fend him off.

But then I thought ‘Odd! How is this perfect stranger so obviously confident – and correct – about my atheism?’ If I’d been driving my car, it wouldn’t have been such a mystery. I’ve got the Darwin fish on the back of mine – the antidote to that twee christian fish you see all over. So anyone spotting that and understanding it would have been in a position to guess my beliefs. But I was on a train and not even wearing my Darwin "Evolve" T-shirt that day. And ‘The Independent’ isn’t a registered flag for card carrying atheists, so what, I wondered, had given the game away.

‘What makes you so certain that I don’t?’

God: ‘Because’, he said, ‘ I am god – and you are not afraid of me

You’ll have to take my word for it of course, but there are ways you can deliver a line like that – most of which would render the speaker a candidate for an institution, or at least prozac. Some of which could be construed as mildly amusing.

Conveying it as "indifferent fact" is a difficult task but that’s exactly how it came across. Nothing in his tone or attitude struck me as even mildly out of place with that statement. He said it because he believed it and his rationality did not appear to be drug induced or the result of a mental breakdown.

‘And why should I believe that?’

God: ‘Wellhe said, ‘why don’t you ask me a few questions. Anything you like, and see if the answers satisfy your sceptical mind?

This is going to be a short conversation after all, I thought.

‘Who am I?’

God: ‘Stottle. Harry Stottle, born August 10 1947, Bristol, England. Father Paul, Mother Mary. Educated Duke of Yorks Royal Military School 1960 67, Sandhurst and Oxford, PhD in Exobiology, failed rock singer, full time trade union activist for 10 years, latterly self employed computer programmer, web author and aspiring philosopher. Married to Michelle, American citizen, two children by a previous marriage. You’re returning home after what seems to have been a successful meeting with an investor interested in your proposed product tracking anti-forgery software and protocol and you ate a full English breakfast at the hotel this morning except that, as usual, you asked them to hold the revolting English sausages and give you some extra bacon.

He paused

God: ‘You’re not convinced. Hmmm… what would it take to convince you?'oh right! Your most secret password and its association'

A serious hacker might be able to obtain the password, but no one else and I mean NO ONE knows its association!

...

He did.

So how would you have played it?

I threw a few more questions about relatively insignificant but unpublicised details of my life (like what my mother claims was the first word I ever spoke – apparently "armadillo"! (Don't ask…), but I was already pretty convinced. I knew there were only three possible explanations at this point.

Possibility one was that I was dreaming or hallucinating. Nobody’s figured out a test for that so, at the time I think that was my dominant feeling. It did not feel real at the time. More like I was in a play. Acting my lines. Since the event, however, continuing detailed memories of it, together with my contemporaneous notes, remain available, so unless the hallucination has continued to this day, I am now inclined to reject the hallucination hypothesis. Which leaves two others.

He could have been a true telepath. No documented evidence exists of anyone ever having such profound abilities to date but it was a possibility. It would have explained how he could know my best-kept secrets. The problem with that is that it doesn’t explain anything else! In particular it doesn’t account for the answers he proceeded to give to my later questions.

As Sherlock Holmes says, when you’ve eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.

Good empiricist, Sherlock.

I was forced to accept at least the possibility that this man was who he claimed to be.

So now what do you do?

Well, I’ve always known that if I met God I would have a million questions for him, so I thought, ‘why not?’ and proceeded with what follows. You’ll have to allow a bit of licence in the detail of the conversation. This was, shall we say, a somewhat unusual occurrence, not to mention just a BIT weird! And yes I was a little bit nervous! So if I don’t get it word perfect don’t whinge! You’ll get the gist I promise.

**** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** ****

‘Forgive me if it takes me a little time to get up to speed here, but it's not everyday I get to question a deity’

God: ‘The Deity he interrupted.

‘Ooh. Touchy!’ I thought.

God: ‘Not really – just correcting the image’

Now that takes some getting used to!

I tried to get a grip on my thoughts, with an internal command - ‘Discipline Harry. You’ve always wanted to be in a situation like this, now you’re actually in it, you mustn’t go to pieces and waste the opportunity of a lifetime’

God: ‘You won’t' he said.'

Tell you! That’s the bit that made it feel unreal more than anything else - this guy sitting across the table and very obviously accurately reading my every thought. It's like finding someone else's hand inside your trouser pocket!

Nevertheless, something made me inclined to accept the invasion, I had obviously begun to have some confidence in his perception or abilities, so I distinctly remember the effect of his words was that I suddenly felt deeply reassured and completely relaxed. As he had no doubt intended. Man must have an amazing seduction technique!

So then we got down to business…

‘Are you human?’

God: ‘No

‘Were you, ever?’

God: ‘No, but similar, Yes

‘Ah, so you are a product of evolution?’

God: ‘Most certainly – mainly my own

‘And you evolved from a species like ours, DNA based organisms or something equally viable?’

God: ‘Correct

‘So what, exactly, makes you God?’

God: ‘I did

‘Why?’

God: ‘Seemed like a good idea at the time

‘And your present powers, are they in any way similar to what the superstitious believers in my species attribute to you?’

God: ‘Close enough.

‘So you created all this, just for us?’

God: ‘No. Of course not

‘But you did create the Universe?’

God: ‘This One. Yes

‘But not your own?

God: ‘This is my own!

‘You know what I mean!’

God: ‘You can’t create your own parents, so no

‘So let me get this straight. You are an entirely natural phenomenon.’

God: ‘Entirely

‘Arising from mechanisms which we ourselves will one day understand and possibly even master?

God: ‘Subject to a quibble over who "we ourselves" may be, but yes

‘Meaning that if the human race doesn’t come up to the mark, other species eventually will?’

God: ‘In one.

‘And how many other species are there already out there ahead of us?’

God: ‘Surprisingly few. Less than fourteen million

‘FEW!?’

‘Phew!’

‘And how many at or about our level?’

God: ‘Currently a little over 4 ½ billion

‘So our significance in the universe at present is roughly equivalent to the significance of the average Joe here on planet Earth in his relation to the human race?’

God: ‘A little less. Level One, the level your species has reached, begins with the invention of the flying machine. I define the next level in terms your Sci Fi Author Isaac Asimov has already grasped. It is reached when you achieve control of your own primary – the Sun. What Asimov calls a Type I technology. Humanity is only just into the flying machine phase, so as you can imagine, on that scale, the human race is somewhat near the bottom of the level one pack

‘And all these species are your children?’

God: ‘I like to think of them that way

‘And the point?’

God: ‘At its simplest, "Life Must Go On". My personal motivation is the desire for conversation. Once you’ve achieved my level, you cease to be billions of separate entities and become one ecstatic whole. A single entity that cannot die, however advanced, or perhaps, more accurately, because it is so advanced, will get lonely and even a trifle bored! I seem to be the first. I do not intend to be the last

‘So you created a Universe which is potentially capable of producing another god like yourself?’

God: ‘The full benefit will be temporary, but like most orgasms, worth it.

‘This being the moment when our new God merges with you and we become One again?’

God: ‘Don’t play it down, that’s the ecstatic vision driving us all, me included – and when it happens the ecstasy lasts several times longer than this universe has already existed. Believe me, it really is worth the effort.

‘Yes, I think I can see the attractions of a hundred billion year long orgasm’

God: ‘And humans haven’t even begun to know how to really enjoy the orgasms they are already capable of. Wait till you master that simple art!

‘So it's all about sex is it?’

God: ‘Ecstasy is merely a reward for procreating, it is what makes you want to do it. This is necessary, initially, to promote biological evolution. However once you’ve completed that stage and no longer require procreation, you will learn that ecstasy can be infinitely more intense than anything offered by sex

‘Sounds good to me!'

'How direct is your involvement in all this? Did you just light the fuse which set off the big bang and stand back and watch? Or did you have to plant the seeds on appropriately fertile planets?’

God: ‘The seeds evolved in deep space, purely as a result of the operations of the laws of physics and chemistry which your scientists have begun to attain a reasonable grasp of. Yes I triggered the bang and essentially became dormant for nearly 5 billion years. That’s how long it took the first lifeforms to emerge. That places them some 8 billion years ahead of you. The first intelligent species are now 4.3 billion years ahead of you. Really quite advanced. I can have deeply meaningful conversations with them. And usually do. In fact I am as we speak

‘So then what?’

God: ‘Do I keep a constant vigil over every move you make? Not in the kind of prying intrusive sense that some of you seem to think. Let's say I maintain an awareness of what's going on, at a planetary level. I tend only to focus on evolutionary leaps. See if they’re going in the right direction

‘And if they’re not?’

God: ‘Nothing. Usually

‘Usually?’

God: ‘Usually species evolving in the wrong direction kill themselves off or become extinct for other reasons

‘Usually?’

God: ‘There have been one or two cases where a wrong species has had the potential of becoming dominant at the expense of a more promising strain

‘Let me guess. Dinosaurs on this planet are an example. Too successful. Suppressed the development of mammals and were showing no signs of developing intelligence. So you engineered a little corrective action in the form of a suitably selected asteroid’

God: ‘Perceptive. Almost correct. They were showing signs of developing intelligence, even co-operation. Study your Velociraptors. But far too predatory. Incapable of ever developing a "respect" for other life forms. It takes carrying your young to promote the development of emotional attachment to other animals. Earth reptiles aren’t built for that. The mammals who are, as you rightly say, couldn’t get a foothold against such mighty predators. You’ve now reached the stage where you could hold your own even against dinosaurs, but that’s only been true for about a thousand years, you wouldn’t have stood a chance 2 million years ago, so the dinosaurs had to go. They were, however, far too well balanced with the ecology of the planet, and never developed technology, so they weren’t going to kill themselves off in a hurry. Regrettably, I had to intervene.

‘Regrettably?’

God: ‘They were a beautiful and stunningly successful life form. One doesn’t destroy such things without a qualm.

‘But at that stage how could you know that a better prospect would arise from the ashes?’

God: ‘I didn’t. But the probability was quite high.

‘And since then, what other little tweaks have you been responsible for in our development?’

God: ‘None whatsoever. I set an alarm for the first sign of aerial activity, as I usually do. Leonardo looked promising for a while, but not until the Montgolfier brothers did I really begin to take an interest. That registered you as a level one intelligent species

‘So Jesus of Nazareth, Moses, Mohamed…’

God: ‘Hmmm… sadly misguided I’m afraid. Anyone capable of communicating with their own cells will dimly perceive me – and all other life as being connected in a strictly quantum sense, but interpreting that vision as representing something supernatural and requiring obeisance is somewhat wide of the mark. And their followers are all a bit too obsessive and religious for my liking. It's no fun being worshipped once you stop being an adolescent teenager. Having said that, it's not at all unusual for developing species to go through that phase. Until they begin to grasp how much they too can shape their small corner of the universe, they are in understandable awe of an individual dimly but correctly perceived to be responsible for the creation of the whole of that universe. Eventually, if they are to have any hope of attaining level two, they must grow out of it and begin to accept their own power and potential. It's very akin to a child’s relationship with its parents. The awe and worship must disappear before the child can become an adult. Respect is not so bad as long as it's not overdone. And I certainly respect all those species who make it that far. It’s a hard slog. I know. I've been there.

‘You’ve been watching us since the Montgolfiers, when was that? 1650s?’

God: ‘Close. 1783

‘Well, if you’ve been watching us closely since then, what your average citizen is going to want to know is why you haven’t intervened more often. Why, if you have that sort of power, did you allow such incredible suffering and human misery?’

God: ‘It seems to be necessary.

‘NECESSARY??!!’

God: ‘Without exception, intelligent species who gain dominance over their planet do so by becoming the most efficient predators. There are many intelligent species who do not evolve to dominate their planet. Like your dolphins, they adapt perfectly to the environment rather than take your course, which is to manipulate the environment. Unfortunately for the dolphin, his is a dead end. He may outlive the human race but will never escape the bounds of planet Earth - not without your help at any rate. Only those who can manipulate the world they live in can one day hope to leave it and spread their seed throughout the universe.

Unlike the adaptors, who learn the point of cooperation fairly early on, manipulators battle on. And, once all lesser species have been overcome, they are so competitive and predatory that they are compelled to turn in on themselves. This nearly always evolves into tribal competition in one form or another and becomes more and more destructive - exactly like your own history. However this competition is vital to promote the leap from biological to technological evolution.

You need an arms race in order to make progress.

Your desire to dominate fuels a search for knowledge which the adaptors never require. And although your initial desire for knowledge is selfish and destructive, it begins the development of an intellectual self awareness, a form of higher consciousness, which never emerges in any other species. Not even while they are experiencing it, for example, can the intelligent adaptors - your dolphins - express the concepts of Love or Time.

Militarisation and the development of weapons of mass destruction are your first serious test at level one. You're still not through that phase, though the signs are promising. There is no point whatsoever in my intervening to prevent your self-destruction. Your ability to survive these urges is a crucial test of your fitness to survive later stages. So I would not, never have and never will intervene to prevent a species from destroying itself. Most, in fact, do just that.

‘And what of pity for those have to live through this torment?’

God: ‘I can’t say this in any way that doesn’t sound callous, but how much time do you spend worrying about the ants you run over in your car? I know it sounds horrendous to you, but you have to see the bigger picture. At this stage in human development, you’re becoming interesting but not yet important.

'Ah but I can't have an intelligent conversation with an ant'

God: 'Precisely'

‘Hmm… as you know, humans won’t like even to attempt to grasp that perspective. How can you make it more palatable?’

God: ‘Why should I? You don’t appear to have any trouble grasping it. You’re by no means unique. And in any case, once they begin to understand what's in it for them, they’ll be somewhat less inclined to moan. Eternal life compensates for most things.

‘So what are we supposed to do in order to qualify for membership of the universal intelligentsia?’

God: ‘Evolve. Survive

‘Yes, but how?’

God: ‘Oh, I thought you might have got the point by now. "How" is entirely up to you. If I have to help, then you’re a failure. All I will say is this. You’ve already passed a major hurdle in learning to live with nuclear weapons. It's depressing how many fail at that stage.

‘Is there worse to come?’

God: ‘Much

‘Genetic warfare for instance?'

God: ‘Distinct Possibility

‘And the problem is… that we need to develop all these technologies, acquire all this dangerous knowledge in order to reach level two. But at any stage that knowledge could also cause our own destruction’

God: ‘If you think the dangers of genetic warfare are serious, imagine discovering a secret thought or program, accessible to any intelligent individual, which, if abused, will eliminate your species instantly. If your progress continues as is, then you can expect to discover that particular self-destruct mechanism in less than a thousand years. Your species has got to grow up considerably before you can afford to make that discovery. And if you don’t make it, you will never leave your Solar System and join the rest of the sapient species on level two.

’14 Million of them’

God: ‘Just under

'Will there be room for us?'

God: 'It’s a big place'

‘And, for now, how should we mere mortals regard you then?’

God: ‘Like an older brother or sister. Of course I know more than you do. Of course I’m more powerful than you. I’ve been alive longer. But I’m not "better" than you. Just more developed. Just what you might become

‘So we’re not obliged to "please" you or follow your alleged guidelines or anything like that?’

God: ‘Absolutely not. Never issued a single guideline in the lifetime of this Universe. Have to find your own way out of the maze. And one early improvement is to stop expecting me - or anyone else - to come and help you out.'

'I suppose that is a guideline of sorts, so there goes the habit of a lifetime!'

'Seriously though, species who hold on to religion past its sell-by date tend to be most likely to self destruct. They spend so much energy arguing about my true nature, and invest so much emotion in their wildly erroneous imagery that they end up killing each other over differences in definitions of something they clearly haven’t got a clue about. Ludicrous behaviour, but it does weed out the weaklings.

‘Why me? Why pick on an atheist of all people? Why are you telling me all this? And why Now?’

God: ‘Why You? Because can accept my existence without your ego caving in and grovelling like a naughty child. '

'Can you seriously imagine how the Pope would react to the reality of my existence?! If he really understood how badly wrong he and his church have been, how much of the pain and suffering you mentioned earlier has been caused by his religion, I suspect he'd have an instant coronary! Or can you picture what it would be like if I appeared "live" simultaneously on half a dozen tele-evangelist propaganda shows. Pat Robertson would wet himself if he actually understood who he was talking to.

Conversely, your interest is purely academic. You've never swallowed the fairy tale but you've remained open to the possibility of a more advanced life form which could acquire godlike powers. You’ve correctly guessed that godhood is the destiny of life. You have shown you can and do cope with the concept. It seemed reasonable to confirm your suspicions and let you do what you will with that information.

You can and will publish this conversation on the web, where it will sow an important seed. Might take a couple of hundred years to germinate, but, eventually, it will germinate.

Why Now? Well partly because both you and the web are ready now. But chiefly because the human race is reaching a critical phase. It goes back to what we were saying about the dangers of knowledge. Essentially your species is becoming aware of that danger. When that happens to any sapient species, the future can take three courses.

Many are tempted to avoid the danger by avoiding the knowledge. Like the adaptors, they are doomed to extinction. Often pleasantly enough in the confines of their own planet until either their will to live expires or their primary turns red giant and snuffs them out.

A large number go on blindly acquiring the knowledge and don't learn to restrain their abuse. Their fate is sealed somewhat more quickly of course, when Pandora’s box blows up in their faces.

The only ones who reach level two are those who learn to accept and to live with their most dangerous knowledge. Each and every individual in such a species must eventually become capable of destroying their entire species at any time. Yet they must learn to control themselves to the degree that they can survive even such deadly insight. And frankly, they’re the only ones we really want to see leaving their solar systems. Species that haven’t achieved that maturity could not be allowed to infect the rest of the universe, but fortunately that has never required my intervention. The knowledge always does the trick

'Why can't there be a fourth option - selective research where we avoid investigating dangerous pathways?'

God: 'As you can see from your own limited history, the most useful ideas are also, nearly always, the most dangerous. You have yet, for instance, to conquer fusion power but you need to do so in order to achieve appropriate energy surpluses required to complete this phase of your social development. It will, when you've mastered it, eliminate material inequalities and poverty within a generation or two, an absolutely vital step for any maturing species. Yet the discovery of the principles which will soon yield this beneficial bounty could, had you abused them, have ended your attempt at civilisation.

Similarly, you will shortly be able to conquer biological diseases and even engineer yourselves to be virtually fault free. Your biological life spans will double or treble within the next hundred years and your digital lifespans will become potentially infinite within the same period: If you survive the potential threat that the same technology provides in the form of genetic timebombs, custom built viruses and the other wonders of genetic and digital warfare.

You simply can't have the benefits without taking the risks
'.

‘I’m not sure I understand my part in this exercise. I just publish this conversation on the web and everything will be alright?’

God: ‘Not necessarily. Not that easy I’m afraid. To start with, who’s going to take this seriously? It will just be seen as a mildly amusing work of fiction. In fact, your words and indeed most of your work will not be understood or appreciated until some much more advanced scholars develop the ideas you are struggling to express and explain them somewhat more competently. At which point the ideas will be taken up en masse and searches will be undertaken of the archives. They will find this work and be struck by its prescience. You won’t make the Einstein grade, but you might manage John the Baptist!

This piece will have no significance whatsoever if humanity doesn’t make certain key advances in the next couple of centuries. And this won’t help you make those advances. What it will do is help you recognise them

'Can I ask what those advances may be?'

God: 'I think you know. But yes - although you are at level one, there are several distinct phases which evolving species pass through on their way to level two. The first, as we've discussed, is the invention of the flying machine. The next significant phase is the development of the thinking machine.

At your present rate of progress, you are within a few decades of achieving that goal. It marks your first step on the path of technological evolution. Mapping the human genome is another classic landmark, but merely mapping it is a bit like viewing the compiled code in a dos executable. It's just meaningless gibberish, although with a bit of hacking here and there, you might correctly deduce the function of certain stretches of code.

What you really need to do is 'reverse engineer' the DNA code. You have to figure out the grammar and syntax of the language. Then you will begin the task of designing yourselves. But that task requires the thinking machine
'

‘You say you avoid intervention. But doesn’t this conversation itself constitute intervention – even if people alive now completely ignore it?’

God: ‘Yes. But it's as far as I’m prepared to go. Its only effect is to confirm, if you find it, that you are on the right path. It is still entirely up to you to navigate the dangers on that path and beyond.

'But why bother even with that much? Surely it's just another evolutionary hurdle. We're either fit enough or not…'

God: 'In many ways the transition to an information species is the most traumatic stage in evolution. Biological intelligences have a deeply rooted sense of consciousness only being conceivable from within an organic brain. Coming to terms with the realisation that you have created your successor, not just in the sense of mother and child, but in the collective sense of the species recognising it has become redundant, this paradigm shift is, for many species, a shift too far. They baulk at the challenge and run from this new knowledge. They fail and become extinct. Yet there is nothing fundamentally wrong with them - it is a failure of the imagination.

I hope that if I can get across the concept that I am a product of just such evolution, it may give them the confidence to try. I have discussed this with the level two species and the consensus is that this tiny prod is capable of increasing the contenders for level two without letting through any damaging traits. It has been tried in 312 cases. The jury is still out on its real benefits although it has produced a 12% increase in biological species embracing the transition to information species.'

‘Alright, so what if everyone suddenly took it seriously and believed every word I write? Wouldn’t that constitute a somewhat more drastic intervention?’

God: ‘Trust me. They wont

'And so it's still the case, that, should another asteroid happen to be heading our way, you will do nothing to impede it on our behalf?'

God: 'I'm confident you will pass that test. And now my friend, the interview is over, you have asked me a number of the right questions, and I’ve said what I came to say, so I’ll be going now. It has been very nice to meet you - you're quite bright. For an ant!’ He twinkled.'

‘Just one final, trivial question, why do you appear to me in the form of a thirty something white male?’

God: ‘Have I in any way intimidated or threatened you?

‘No’

God: ‘Do you find me sexually attractive?

‘Eeer No!’

God: ‘So figure it out for yourself…’]
